The Vision
Our vision as coaches for the Kickstand Training Sessions is grand. We have long wanted to see North America become the next big place to embrace cycling as an accepted and widely used mode of transport. Through the Kickstand Sessions we know that can be achieved. Dutch and Danish inspiration for North American solutions.
Canada and the United States have long been two of the fastest-moving and forward-thinking countries when it comes to innovation and development. Countries that the rest of the world looks to for inspiration. Bicycle infrastructure, planning, and policy however, are areas with room for visionary improvement.
Through Kickstand we hope to create a top position for North America as a role model for other emerging bicycle cultures. We want to see the current level of car use decrease, with a subsequent increase in liveability and improvement of the urban atmosphere of cities across North America. All of this can be done quite simply with the bicycle - one of the greatest tools for improving quality of life.
We want to see the bicycle embraced and respected as a form of mobility. We want citizens to be able to expect that bicycle infrastructure will benefit their daily lives by providing quick and practical transport options. We want to see less funding spent on trying to reinvent the wheel, and more spent on implementing established best-practice - so North American cities can become as fast-moving and progressive in bicycle planning as they are in other fields.
We see working together - with our experience and your local know-how - as a fantastic and rewarding experience. It is also of utmost importance. It's an endeavour that can truly transform transportation habits and create a society-changing effect.
Kickstand is more than a training session. It's a catalyst for more mobile, liveable cities, and we look forward to making these visions a reality.
