The Kickstand Sessions in Halifax, Canada were fantastic. We had 37 participants for the two-day sessions and their was a high level of focus and engagement. The entire Atlantic Canada region was well represented at the venue at Dalhousie University. Participants were present from Halifax, many towns in Nova Scotia, as well as from Prince Edward Island and Moncton, New Brunswick.
Nova Scotia Premier, Hon. Darrell Dexter, got the participants started by posing the questions he was looking forward to hearing the answers to at the end of the two-day sessions. On the last day, Halifax city councillors came to hear six elevator pitches from the participants about how to improve life in the city - and region - by using the bicycle as the most effective tool in our toolboxes for creating liveable cities and communities. Thanks to the councillors for their time and interest. They even rescheduled an important meeting about the transit strike in the city in order to be there.
