The perception of safety is very high in Guadalajara which is always brilliant and we love the city's successful bike share programme. The increase in modal share over the past five years is impressive. Nobody was as surprised as we were when Guadalajara came in at number 12 but their efforts at promoting urban cycling have paid off. Central and South America need leaders now that the shine has been taken off Bogota, and Guadalajara should be ready to fill the role.

Copenhagenize Fixes
Mexico needs a model bicycle city and now it’s time for Guadalajara to reclaim space from cars and make the bicycle the quickest transport form. More effort is to be made smoothing out the gender split and, as we well know, that means more and better infrastructure.
